Events & Activities
We offer three types of events and activities…
Hands-on robotics workshops for families
These are free, hands-on creative play workshops for children aged 7-11 year olds and accompanying adults. Parents and children work together to experiment and play with LEGO® robotics kit. There will be other fun activities for parents linked to web development and digital marketing, and a chance to talk with people from the tech sector.
Community drop-in sessions
These are free drop-in sessions where adults aged 18+ with an interest in finding out more about tech skills or the tech sector can come and have a one-to-one conversation about their interests and questions and do some fun taster activities. There will be an opportunity to meet people from the tech sector, find out more about local creative and digital companies, and get some advice about training opportunities, which might include the course below.
Web development course
This is a free eight-week course to learn how to design and code websites covering HTML, CSS and Java. The course will be offered in two modes:
- part-time online with face-to-face support
- full-time 10am-2pm to make it easy for those who have children
At the end there will be a two-week work experience opportunity. Participants will meet employers and learn industry approaches. Those who complete the course should be in a position to apply for entry-level jobs in the tech sector. Participants on the course must be 18+ years old, live in Sheffield City Region and be interviewed to assess interest and suitability.
